Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
When employees without proper authority sign contracts it creates liabilities and drains scarce resources of the University. There is an opportunity to enhance the existing contract management process to create an efficient and transparent process that will allow the University to pursue important opportunities and also ensure that important quality control over contracts is maintained. 
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  1. Key activities will include stakeholder interviews to gather insights on current contracting practices and engage with University administrative leaders to brainstorm potential solutions.
  2. Students will utilize project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall approaches, to structure their progress.
  3. They will conduct a SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the existing contract management system.
  4. Deliverables will include a comprehensive report detailing findings, a prototype of the proposed contract management process, and a presentation to university stakeholders to showcase the project’s outcomes and recommendations.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • The expected outcomes of this project include a fully developed contract management process that incorporates efficient and effective quality control, resulting in improve integrity in order to limit liabilities, unnecessary risk and unnecessary expenditure of resources.
  • SMART goals include creating a clear path for how to initiate a contract at the University, creating an efficient process for review and approval of all contracts, presenting to University key leaders a recommendation for communicating the revised contract management process via the UM Website and other avenues to the campus community.
  • Students will also enhance their project management, analytical, and presentation skills, equipping them for future careers as leaders and managers in any organization.
