The City of South Bend's Office of Sustainability EASSI program assists nonprofits and community organizations to complete energy efficiency and solar projects. This new City program started in January 2022 and has 18 total participants. The opportunity is to assist the City of South Bend's Office of Sustainability to identify and focus on all-important KPIs by developing a professional dashboard that allows EASSI program participants to monitor, gain insights, and make high-quality, timely decisions on key issues. EASSI participants are interested in a public display, kiosk, or dashboard that can create more visibility around their solar project and educate and inspire visitors of all ages about solar and sustainability. (Typically, EASSI projects are not as visible since solar installation is on the rooftop). The EASSI participants are using different inverters that all provide in some format monitoring information, but it is not very user-friendly and accessible for the public. (All of the inverters have some form of API integration capabilities to allow other software applications to access its monitoring system).

Additionally, the software for inverters typically only displays the outputs of the solar panels, and participants are interested in more educational information about how they are utilizing solar and becoming more sustainable.

The Office of Sustainability is interested in producing at minimum an interactive dashboard to deliver to each of its EASSI participants to display on the website and/or in their public lobbies. This project could create the pathway integration for organizations to export data to a public facing dashboard that can me more customizable, friendly and accessible. A project team can also develop a dashboard template for further customizations.
