Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
WE, The World excels in its commitment to addressing pressing global issues such as illiteracy and illhealth, femicide/GBV/IPV, gender and climate justice, climate change, youth unemployment and gender inequality, leveraging a network of partnerships and resources to create meaningful change. However, the organization faces challenges in effectively translating policy research into actionable advocacy strategies that resonate with stakeholders and influence policy change. Currently, there is a gap in systematic policy research that can bolster advocacy efforts and ensure that evidence-based solutions are at the forefront of their programs. This lack of robust data and strategic insights limits the organization’s ability to advocate effectively for the vulnerable populations they serve.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  1. Key activities for this project will include conducting a literature review on existing policies related to child welfare, youth skill and employment, human endowment, social protection, climate justice; and gender equity, femicide/IPV/GBV, as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis of data gathered through surveys and interviews with stakeholders.
  2. Students will employ participatory research methodologies to engage with communities and gather firsthand insights into their needs and challenges.
  3. Regular workshops will facilitate collaboration, allowing students to present findings, receive feedback, and iterate on their advocacy strategies.
  4. The final deliverables will include a comprehensive policy analysis report and an advocacy toolkit designed to empower WE, The World to effectively communicate their recommendations to policymakers and stakeholders.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • The expected outcomes of this project include the development of a detailed policy analysis report that identifies key gaps in current child welfare policies and presents evidence-based recommendations for advocacy.
  • Additionally, students will create an advocacy toolkit that provides practical strategies for WE, The World to engage with stakeholders and influence policy change.
  • Learning outcomes for students will encompass improved research and analytical skills, enhanced understanding of policy advocacy processes, and practical experience in stakeholder engagement.
  • SMART goals for the project will include completing the policy report by Month 5, developing the advocacy toolkit by Month 7, and conducting a presentation to WE, The World’s stakeholders by the end of the program.
