| Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity | The United Nations Foundation leads two signature global health campaigns—Shot@Life, which champions vaccine access for children around the world, and United to Beat Malaria, focused on malaria prevention and treatment. Despite broad bipartisan support historically, global health programs face new challenges as U.S. political climates shift and public sentiment toward international engagement becomes more fractured. Both campaigns are committed to building grassroots movements that bridge partisan divides and energize a more diverse base of advocates, especially in suburban and rural communities. However, advocacy burnout, changing media consumption habits, and evolving political narratives have complicated this effort. This project invites students to help both campaigns:

| Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required |
Map Current Engagement Pipelines: Audit Shot@Life and United to Beat Malaria's existing constituent journey from awareness to action; identify key drop-off points across both campaigns.
Conduct Sentiment & Engagement Research: Use internal reports, external polling, and stakeholder interviews to analyze how Americans perceive global health initiatives—especially across varied political and geographic identities.
Design Targeted Messaging Frameworks: Recommend inclusive messaging strategies that resonate across partisan divides and emphasize local relevance (e.g., national security, maternal health, economic growth).
Prototype a Suburban & Rural Engagement Plan: Develop a scalable outreach strategy for grassroots mobilization outside major cities, with specific pathways for activating new advocates.
Recommend Systemic Improvements to Retain and Elevate Advocates:
Create an integrated advocacy ladder that encourages long-term participation and includes training, mentorship, and recognition opportunities. |
