Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
AFLCT is working to diversify its earned revenue by developing a new, mission-aligned line of corporate training services. This initiative addresses a significant opportunity to bring our arts-based, culturally responsive pedagogy into the workplace, particularly to support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives through experiential learning. The challenge lies in translating our strengths in K–12 arts education into compelling offerings that meet the needs of HR, DEI, and Learning & Development teams while remaining true to our educational mission and artist-centered values.

Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
To design and launch a successful corporate training revenue stream, the following activities will be essential:

  • Market Research
    • Analyze trends in DEIB and experiential learning.
    • Benchmark peer organizations and identify market gaps.
  • Stakeholder Discovery
    • Conduct interviews with corporate DEI, HR, and ERG leaders to understand demand and expectations.
    • Create client personas and identify decision-making criteria.
  • Program and Pricing Design
    • Collaborate with AFLCT staff and Teaching Artists to co-create pilot workshops and residencies.
    • Develop a tiered pricing model that supports scalability and sustainability.
  • Messaging and Outreach
    • Develop a clear value proposition, branded messaging, and proposal templates for corporate audiences.
    • Identify and prioritize outreach to potential anchor clients and networks.
  • Operations and Capacity Planning
    • Establish internal systems for scheduling, communication, and feedback collection.
    • Determine any training or onboarding needed for Teaching Artists to succeed in corporate settings.

Project Synopsis: Expected Results
This project will be considered a success if it results in a clear, actionable business model and pilot-ready programming that AFLCT can confidently introduce to the corporate market. Measurable outcomes include:
  • Development of 3–5 workshop or training formats tailored for corporate delivery.
  • A pricing and cost structure that supports earned income goals.
  • A go-to-market strategy, including audience segmentation, outreach materials, and a prospect list.
  • Identify at least 2–3 pilot partners to test offerings within the first year.
  • A plan for internal integration and staffing, including artist training and logistical workflows.
  • Defined impact metrics, both financial (e.g., pilot revenue, cost recovery) and mission-related (e.g., employee feedback, alignment with DEIB goals).
Ultimately, success means AFLCT will be positioned to grow this new revenue stream in a way that expands its mission impact beyond schools, without overextending its core team or compromising artistic integrity.
