Skills & Expertise
Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
The D.K. Kim Foundation (DKKF) has funded and supported a social development initiative,  Kim Integrated Health Management Initiative (KIHMI), in the rural communities of Colombia since January of 2018.  In addition to poverty, high rates of illiteracy, and conflict between government, paramilitary and crime syndicates in the region, the communities where we work also have a high prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases. Through our Do No Harm approach, we work holistically and minimize the “harm” community development has on the culture, economy, and general well being of individuals in a community ensuring the projects are woven into the fabric of the community.
We believe there is an opportunity to share the strategy to include the operational, implementation, and formalization of the do-no-harm social framework, model, curriculum and training with additional global expansion aligned with the United Nations SDG’s. One of the goals includes identifying the best option to monetize this proof of concept to support the programs and team currently operating in Colombia.
The challenge we are facing is the DKKF will no longer be the primary funder for KIHMI as of December 31, 2024.  We are actively pursuing grants that align with the Mission of KIHMI (The Kim Integrated Health Management initiative (KIHMI) designs sustainable social solutions to improve the general well-being of communities affected by orphan and rare diseases, using local resources and collaborative alliances with in-country and international governments and organizations), as well as having conversations and meetings with possible funders to ensure this initiative continues to be impactful and viable.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  • Evaluation of initiative and current projects  to determine sustainability, explore US, Colombian and international partnership opportunities, funding feasibility, and expansion and replication of existing work.
  • Meet with the DK Kim Foundation (US based) and KIHMI teams (Colombia) to understand marketing and funding goals and opportunities.
  • Research philanthropic funding opportunities, stakeholder engagement options, and growth strategy partnerships.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • Comprehensive strategy on how to market, implement, and replicate the Do No Harm model (i.e. higher academia, governmental organizations focused on social issues such as homelessness, refugee and immigration crisis, etc.)
  • Clear direction and strategy based on market research and data of best options to monetize the model to help support the team and community projects.
  • Consistent marketing and "brag kit" branding/messaging to share with potential funders and investors.
