Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
As an advocacy and support organization, it's important that Operation Safe Escape remains aware of recent, historical, and pending legislation that may impact survivors of domestic violence, stalking and harassment, and human trafficking.  Such awareness, particularly when accompanied by strategic recommendations, will help us advocate for sensible legislation, stand in opposition to harmful public policy initiatives, and best advise partners and clients on resources available to them.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
1. Define and discuss the scope and focus areas
2. Using publicly available state and federal records, research and compile legislation history and efforts relevant to the organization's mission
3. Identify gaps or inconsistencies between states or within national legislation
4. Research legislation history and provide recommendations and/or assist in creating awareness or outreach strategies
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
Success for this project would mean that a general "audit" of national and state legislation has been completed and gaps identified; a strategy has been developed to advocate for legislative change where needed. It would also result in a comprehensive record of applicable laws that may be relevant to vulnerable populations as defined by our mission
