CyberMontana was funded by the Montana Legislature in 2021 and is housed in Missoula College. The initiative provides cybersecurity awareness, training and workforce development for businesses and residents across the state. With a philosophy that everyone, no matter their age or place in life, should be fluent in computer security, CyberMontana offers something for six graders and up. 
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
The end user Security Awareness Training is one of CyberMontana’s main programs and offers 20-30 minute online training modules that teach cybersecurity best practices in a number of topics, including: 

  • Identify and correctly handle phishing emails 

  • Securely manage mobile devices 

  • Implement proven safeguards in a work-from-home environment 

  • Understand the need for password management and survey common tools to 

  • Increase password security 

  • Recognize the risks in using public wireless access and know the best ways to 

  • Safely use the Internet in public spaces 

  • Learn about the Internet of Things (IoT) and how to improve your IoT security 

Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  1. We are looking for a group of students who are interested in the cybersecurity field, who want to go through the training, and help us put together 60 second trailer videos of each one of the modules. The students are given the freedom to be creative with with the project but the videos should be professional and all follow a consistent pattern in structure and quality as they will be implemented on our website, cybermontana.org
