The We Sow We Grow Project sees itself growing fast in the next 2 years. We have our leadership and volunteer staff dedicated to the mission and providing 100% of the work required as in-kind donations. We will need to hire dedicated staff moving forward as leadership will be stretched too thin in the future. No one within the organization is taking a salary, and we want to get ahead of a model to ensure that when we are fully funded, and that funding is reciprocal, we already have a model on how to structure wages within the organization. We will need a hiring model, wage metric, industry practice on salary as a % of funding, and, perhaps, contractor agreements. We also will need information on structuring payroll and ensuring both federal and state taxes requirements are met/satisfied. Included in your talent strategy should be a proposed org structure and a worker/wage model that will allow us to staff up or down depending on funds for the year. At the least, a structure to provide a stipend in lieu of a formal salary for work performed on behalf of We Sow We Grow.
